The 2010 Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is scheduled for 18-22 February 2010 in San Diego, California, USA. The theme is Bridging Science and Society. The Program Committee is particularly interested in sessions that highlight the theme but will consider proposals that are not directly related if they involve ground-breaking areas of research, new developments, and cross-cutting activities in support of science, technology, and education. FSRS Annual Conference 2010
The 17th Annual Conference of the Fishermen and Scientists Research Society is scheduled for 26-27 February 2010 in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. 2010 IOC INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
1 March 2010 is the deadline for submitting abstracts to the 2010 International Conference of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, scheduled for 27-30 April 2010 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The Conference will address the following questions: - What is the education and training in marine science about? - Who are those to be educated and trained and for what? - What is the role of relevant international organization in promoting and fostering the education and training policy? - Can new methods of education with the use of modern technological achievements in the area of communication and information exchange be a panacea for solving problems of capacity development? - How much funding is needed to support the training programme? - What are the obstacles to progress in the field of education and training in marine science? 3RD JOINT CMOS-CGU CONGRESS
17 February 2010 is the extended deadline for submitting abstracts to the 3rd Joint CMOS-CGU Congress, scheduled for 31 May - 4 June 2010 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This event will be the 44th Annual Congress of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS) and the 36th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Canadian Geophysical Union (CGU). WORKING WATERWAYS & WATERFRONTS
The Working Waterways & Waterfronts National Symposium on Water Access 2010 is scheduled for 27-30 September 2010 in Portland, Maine, USA. The Symposium will focus on the economic, social, cultural, and environmental values of waterfronts, and the important role of water-dependent uses in sustainable coastal communities. 20 February 2010 is the deadline for submitting abstracts to the 3rd International Conference Coastlab dealing with the Application of Physical Modelling to Port and Coastal Protection, scheduled for 28 September to 1 October 2010 in Barcelona, Spain. INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DELTAS IN TIMES OF CLIMATE CHANGE
The International Conference on Deltas in Times of Climate Change is scheduled for 29 September to 2 October 2010 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The Symposium will focus on planning and investments in times of climate change. Themes include: subsidence, climate change and spatial planning; flood risk management, salt water intrusion and fresh water supply; saltwater aquaculture and brackish agriculture; the urban heat island effect and measures to deal with it; and governance and innovative policy instruments for planning and decision-making.
